What Women Want Men to Know

A Husband's Story...

I am slowly surrendering my machoness. Yes, I do believe I’ve coined a new word not currently in Wikipedia. “Surrendering Machoness” by my definition, is when a woman’s influence slowly takes over.

This is my story about losing my machoness.  I’ve recently been working upwards of 80 hours a week. This includes my night job and also my work as co-founder with my wife at Eden’s Corner.

Working on Eden's Corner Webpage.

Many hours in front of a computer plus a high energy job has wracked my body with intense pain; tightness starting with the shoulders and neck then working itself into migraine headaches. This brings up my new pain drug of choice, Magnesium Sulfate.

Best Friend vs...

Being a man, I was very skeptical about my wife’s advice in certain areas that might sound a little feminine to me. Can you say, macho man? I don’t even want to mention nag or nagging along the way, after all, she is my best friend (but it was something like that). Bottom line, I was surrendering my ego due to the fact I was in a lot of pain.

Many of us have experienced Magnesium Sulfate at one time or another. As a child I was very active in sports and my mom used it on me all the time. When it’s your mom, being macho doesn’t count. She used it to soothe muscle pains that would occur from my sports activities.

Thinking back,

I wasn’t really fond of my mom making me take a bath, what boy is?

Machoness has been known to develop at a young age in some boys, don’t you know?  Did my mom and her mom know all the benefits of Magnesium Sulfate and how our body needs it? Did they know it’s a necessary nutrient and that it plays a big role in muscle control and in the elimination of harmful toxins in the body?

They must have been aware that it helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. The magnesium ions also relax and reduce irritability by lowering the effects of adrenalin. It also has the added benefits of improving sleep and concentration. In fact the National Academy of Sciences says most Americans are deficient in magnesium which can contribute to serious health issues. According to the National Institutes of Health, magnesium is crucial in regulating muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels, blood pressure and making protein, bone, and DNA.

Your skin is a highly porous membrane and adding the right minerals to your bathwater triggers a process called reverse osmosis, which actually pulls salt out of your body and harmful toxins along with it.

Blind Faith

We have become lackadaisical and have decided it is a whole lot easier to purchase something even though we have no idea what it’s really doing to our bodies. I once heard the definition of blind faith as not knowing if a monkey is flying the plane or an actual pilot.

My wife being so smart, was obviously trying to get me see all of this logic, but my machoness kept me deaf to her motherly instinctual efforts. Are women born with all this stuff? I heard bath and my ears closed and my brain turned off. All the hours I had been putting in was creating a stress on me and depleting my body of valuable magnesium. Stress drains the body of magnesium and increases the levels of adrenaline and over a period of time results in pain. Pain can do amazing things; it will bring you to your knees, open your ears, and turn on your brain. And yes, standing right there, with her arms crossed and folded will be your wife, waiting for the words “uncle” and now you are ready to listen.

My great grandmother, grandmother, my mom and my wife, knew. Is it instinctual that these women would somehow know about the natural

healing properties of magnesium sulfate?

Why do you suppose we have moved so far from the natural healing that once was?

We have all the solutions and remedies from Mother Nature in abundance all around us.

We have simply forgotten and therefore do not pass it along to the next generation. Are we being deceptively seduced by commercial advertising to cover up our pains with toxic medications, as we slowly lose ourselves to memory loss?  We have become lackadaisical and have decided it is a whole lot easier to purchase something even though we have no idea what it’s really doing to our bodies.

Monkey flying a plane.

I once heard the definition of blind faith as not knowing if a monkey is flying the plane or an actual pilot. Have you ever actually seen what’s behind the cabin door? That my friend, is blind faith. We as a culture have created a blind faith attitude and just don’t care what we allow into our bodies. The healthcare crisis is all around us. It touches family and friends, but we just don’t really seem to care.

Most natural cures are so simple and cost pennies compared to the alternative (sickness). It’s time we start living again and being responsible for our health. If you have the “macho-ness” aka ego, you will resist and continue to suffer as I did.

As the wonderful poet Thoreau wrote,

“Nature is doing her best each moment to make us well. She exists for no other end. Do not resist. With the least inclination to be well, we should not be sick.”

As the story goes, in the Middle Ages, within the town pond now known as the town’s market, lie the boroughs of Epsom and Ewell in Surrey, England. The town of Epsom gives it name to Epsom Salts which are found in its bitter saline mineral spring.

Benefits of Epsom Salt:

  • Eases stress and relaxes the body

  • Helps in reducing inflammation

  • Helps in muscle and nerve function

  • Helps to prevent artery hardening

  • Has been known to aid in healing some skin problems

  • Relieves constipation

  • Removal of splinters

  • Benefits in the garden are numerous

  • Magnesium sulfate helps improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins and help ease migraine headaches

In closing, what women really want men to know

is how much they love and care for them.
