Time for Another Juice Fast!
If you’ve been juicing for a while, you can always tell when it’s time for another juice fast.
Your mental clarity has faded, energy stores have waned and chances are your clothes are fitting a little snugger than usual…
And if you’re new to juicing you’ve got some decisions to make. Fortunately, the path has been paved. Juicing isn’t a big mystery. It isn’t difficult, certainly not rocket science.
However, like every healthy habit, juicing takes commitment and a plan. It is possibly the best investment you’ll ever make in yourself.
Before we applaud the value of a fast, let’s talk about why we would do it in the first place, other than the fact we like to feel good, not just good, really good. If you’ve read my story about Rick’s brush with death, you know that juicing healed him and most likely saved his life.
So I guess you could say juicing has been a life saver for us. (My story will come later.) It resets the body’s metabolism, nourishes the cells like nothing else can and detoxifies the entire system.
Juicing will test your resolve, your grit and your common sense. It’s mental work; and requires determination and a commitment to good health. You’ve got to believe you’re worth it, but once you do, the rest just comes natural.
Plan for Success
You will need to have a plan however; as we know, goals are achieved with a bit of strategic planning. We’ve got some great tasting juice recipes in Eden’s Paradise Bar and Joe Cross’ book, “Reboot with Joe,” will certainly be helpful.
Even if you’ve fasted before, it’s always good to do some mental preparation. Over the years I’ve noticed a pattern to our dialogue that prefaces each upcoming fast. We start by talking about the need and then we commit to a start date. After that we spend at least a week watching Joe’s movies, “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead 1 & 2, and other shows like Fed Up and Hungry for Change.
Fortunately, Rick and I tend to be in synch when it comes to needing to
“get cleaned out,”
and it’s a lot easier if you don’t have to go it alone. Encouraging each other increases your chances for success.
Yes, it’s certainly time for another reboot, or as we call it, reset.
No food, no cooking, and no eating.
Okay, I confess, sometimes I have to have an avocado or an orange.
