Sweet Deception? The Bitter Side
Artificial sugar
How in the world did we ever think it could be a good thing? Have we lost our minds? Sort of…
Like the boiling of the frog, we’ve been systematically brainwashed to believe fake sugar is the savior of humanity. Tricked into believing we’d be healthier, happier, and oh yes, I dare say, thinner…

In the beginning was TaB; diet cola for the mass consumer culture still riding the waves of the stick skinny model allure. Diet soda’s cult following can be traced back to the early 60’s. Although Diet Rite Soda had already made itself onto the market, the folks over at Coca-Cola were doing a better job of
“dis-informing and wowing”
the gullible masses.
“Bernays’ techniques” of manipulation and hypnotic suggestion duped the unsuspecting public. Hook, line and sinker. Deceived once again by invisible forces attempting to…

Here's a perfect example of the deception and manipulation behind the artificial food industry:
The Calorie Control Council's slogan is
“Healthy Eating & Exercise For Life.”
Their endorsements include the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association. Even the world renowned Mayo Clinic speaks highly of artificial sweeteners, going so far to say they are an attractive alternative to sugar. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and to no surprise, the American Academy of Family Physicians says, “aspartame and Splenda are okay to use while you’re pregnant!”
The Calorie Control Council which began in 1966, continues to represent manufacturers and suppliers of low-and reduced-calorie foods and beverages, including manufacturers and suppliers of more than two dozen different alternative sweeteners, fibers and other low-calorie, dietary ingredients.
So mesmerized
by commercial advertising no one asked, or even cared whether or not the beverage was healthy or at the least, safe.

Believing fake sugar is good for you is another fine example of mass culture disinformation. If you’re not up on the public manipulation used by corporations (practiced for almost a hundred years) to unconsciously influence every consumer, you may want to visit "Professional Poisoner of the Public Mind."
This is the philosophy behind his legendary work:
''You can get practically any ideas accepted, if doctors are in favor, the public is willing to accept it, because a doctor is an authority to most people, regardless of how much he knows, or doesn’t know … By the law of averages, you can usually find an individual in any field who will be willing to accept new ideas, and the new ideas then infiltrate the others
who haven’t accepted it.”
-Edward Bernays 20th Century American Propagandist

So mesmerized by commercial advertising no one asked, or even cared whether or not the beverage was healthy or at the least, safe. Why should they? Our government wouldn’t let anyone harm us with poisonous foods. Or would they?
How it happened…
Like a lot of inventions, it was purely accidental. Chemical lab soup turned profitable scheme extraordinaire.
Let’s look at the top selling
“fake sugars.”
Saccharin Also Known as Sweet’N Low, Sugar Twin and Necta Sweet
In addition to being a coal tar derivative; saccharin, contains chlorine, sulphur dioxide, ammonia and some other unhealthy stuff you’d find in toxic cleaning products.
I remember years ago some bad press came out hinting of its removal from the market. Years later it resurfaced only to be revisited with a warning label stating it caused bladder cancer in rats. In 2000, after a bit of subterfuge and money exchanging, the warning label was removed. Once again big money spoke and got its way.
Splenda aka Sucralose
Laboratory wizardry turns sugar molecule from dangerously sweet, to potential lethal food additive. Another chemistry miracle for an unsuspecting diet obsessed nation. Swindled by lies of “have your cake and eat it too,” millions are poised on the edge or over the cliff of diet madness.
Ingesting this miracle sweetener sounds as exciting as a game of Russian Roulette!
Reported Side Effects
Blurred vision
Weight gain
Blood sugar increase
Allergic reaction
Seizures
Migraines
Dizziness
Aspartame or better known as Equal and NutraSweet
Outlawed for years, in 1981 government corruption welcomed with open arms (and wallets), this “sugar-free” sweetener. It can be found in over 6,000 “food” products.
Known as an excitotoxin, this chemical time bomb leads to cell death in the form of a “chemical cocktail.” Hailed as a savior for our diet obsessed nation, it has undoubtedly contributed to the obesity and healthcare crisis afflicting most of America and the rest of the world.
Reported Side Effects
-
Nausea & vomiting
-
Vision changes
-
Sleep problems
-
Brain cancer
-
Depression
-
Memory loss and more…
There are hundreds of documented cases of the health hazards of aspartame listed on the government site National Library of Medicine Index.
It is also well known that aspartame contains methanol which turns into formaldehyde in the human body. The EPA has determined formaldehyde causes cancer and is known to increase the risk of breast or prostate cancer.
Whatever the product, “reduced calorie, diet, or sugar-free”, it’s all the same, poison. It sabotages your weight loss efforts, while signaling your body to store fat.
If you have experienced an adverse reaction to any aspartame product, call the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinator in your area.
Safer Substitutes to Chemical Sweeteners
These sweeteners are healthy and easy to digest, however, use sweeteners in moderation.
Honey: Pure Raw Honey (preferably local)
Honey is an incredible superfood, containing many vitamins, minerals, antimicrobial compounds (helpful for healing wounds) and phytonutrients.
Dates
These sweet little mineral-rich gems are high in fiber which slow down sugar absorption. Replete with antioxidants. Use them in smoothies, energy bars, baking, etc.
Stevia
Use full leaf or ground. Sweet Leaf is a great brand. Stevia herb is helpful for those with blood sugar or weight loss concerns.
Avoid processed brands such as Truvia which contains additives and is made from GMO corn. Processed stevia is brought to you by Cargill/Coca-Cola & their competitor and evil twin, PepsiCo. Don’t forget, anything that claims to have “natural flavors” should be regarded as highly suspect! And certainly not healthy.
Coconut Palm Sugar
Easily substitutes for regular sugar in baking and raw foods. Contains potassium, electrolytes and other nutrients. Also low on the glycemic index.
Maple Syrup
Choose only 100% organic Grade B or C.
Shop wisely when choosing natural sweeteners. All brands are not created equally. Unnecessary additives are often added as fillers. Choose USDA organic and READ the label. Next time you want something sweet, reach for natural sugar instead.
