    Nothing says summer like fresh fruit! When the warm weather brings a bounty of delicious fresh fruit, enjoy this easy to make summer passion smoothie. Summer fruits, they’re delicious and healthy for you too! 

    Cantaloupe, in addition to eating other fruits such as oranges, apples, and bananas, have recently been found to lower the risk of metabolic syndrome. A “dis-order” that affects millions and is potentially fatal. Symptoms of metabolic syndrome are combined high blood pressure, elevated blood cholesterol/insulin resistance and obesity or excess body weight. 

    Peaches, plums induce deliciously promising death of breast cancer cells – even the most aggressive type, according to lab tests at Texas A&M AgriLife Communications.  Peaches contain powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants are known to keep the body healthy and free from oxidation damage due to free radicals that accelerate aging, damage or mutate cells and weaken the immune system. 

    Oranges contain powerful flavones. And studies suggest they can lower high blood pressure as well as cholesterol and reduce inflammation. 

     

    Pineapple is well known for its digestive benefits, but did you know it has potential as an anti-inflammatory as well? Bromelain supplements taken in therapeutic doses may reduce excessive inflammation, excessive coagulation and certain types of tumor growth.

    Ingredients:

     

    Always choose the freshest and ripest produce available for optimum nutrition and best flavor.

     

    ½ pineapple peeled (not cored) and chop into pieces.

    ½ cantaloupe peel and slice

    2 oranges. Never use peeling as it imparts a bitter flavor.

    2 peaches unpeeled- preserves health benefits.

    Instructions:

     

    Important note:

    Wash your produce before cutting. Cutting dirty produce can contaminate your fruit or vegetable with harmful organisms. Place in the sink and give it a good bath with gentle earth friendly soap.

     

    Wash, peel (except peaches) and cut up fruit. Process in blender or food processor. Serve with a straw.  Enjoy!
