What do you do when you have pain? Run for the Tylenol? Advil? Aleve? Ever wonder why you have pain? Aside from accidental injury, pain is not normal and certainly not healthy.
I did not experience physical pain until I was somewhere in my mid-thirties. I had just put in a quarter of an acre of garlic and in addition to my hobby business, I was working an extremely physical and mentally demanding job.
Desperate for relief from my pain, I took a common over-the-counter drug. Within moments I experienced severe stomach pain; pain more intense than the muscle spasms in my back. Another reminder that nature/God has given us natural medicines, and a quick fix from a pill was not the answer. Without question, there are times when conventional medicines are necessary. This was not one.
I had always been a busy person. And I didn’t realize at the time that my mind was intentionally keeping me distracted from the emotional issues I hadn’t resolved.
I believe that pain was my "wakeup call." Not a call to numb the pain, a call to get my life in order. Pain is always a sign of imbalance within the body. And pain must be addressed in a holistic manner or the body’s system- mind/body/soul, cannot heal.
I decided that day I would endeavor to bring my life back into balance by listening to my heart (God). I prayed for a sign. Within a day I found Louise Hay’s work and it changed the course of my life forever. Her book “You Can Heal Your Life,” possibly saved my life.
