Manage Stress: Healthy Body, Happier Life!
It’s all in your mind, they say. And while I agree everything begins with our thoughts and beliefs, stress is very real for the person that is feeling it.
We use the word stress to define situations that make us feel uncomfortable. Stressful thoughts that whip us into a frenzy; the mind reeling with confusion as tension keeps our body tied up in knots. Continuous stress often creates “dis-ease.” Stress is a powerful force that weakens the immune system leading to physical and mental destruction.
Changing your outlook on life by developing positive mental habits will make you feel good. How you feel is everything.
When you understand that your feelings are your emotional guidance system
(a helpful way of letting you know something is good for you or bad),
you will be very careful about the thoughts you think.
Best Ways to Manage Stress
BLESS YOUR DAY
Begin your day with an attitude of gratitude. Continue blessing everything throughout your day and you will be amazed at all the gifts you receive. Affirm that no one will ruin your day.
Saying thank you as you wake in the morning will shift your thoughts and feelings from “Oh God, not another day,” to “Thank you God, for another day.” Whether it is eyes to see, fresh air to breathe, ears to hear beautiful music, friends and family to love, there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. Gratitude shifts your mind from stress to relief.
LEARN TO BREATHE CORRECTLY
Unfortunately, most of us have forgotten how to breathe. We’re shallow breathers, unaware that improper breathing is causing stress hormones to ravage our bodies. Stress is the weak link that creates myriad health problems. Read Breathe Better, Feel Better.
Meditation calms your mind and body. Training your thoughts through meditation is the best vacation you’ll ever experience. It’s all in your head is a profound statement, and everything begins there… Letting go of the endless reel of thoughts will liberate your mind, body and soul. Meditation opens the pathway to the part of you that wants only peace and tranquility. The “real” you is authentic, creative and aware that life has a meaningful purpose.
CHANGE HOW YOU RESPOND TO LIFE
How you look at events and circumstances will affect your level of stress. It’s not what’s happening in life that makes you “stressed out,” it’s how you respond to it. It’s raining outside: Will you let the weather bring you down or accept it and find other things to be happy about? Your children are having a hard time. Do you listen with compassion and empathy, or do you get upset and “stressed?” Like stress, your happiness is an inside job.

JOURNALING TAKES THE PRESSURE OFF
Writing your thoughts down gets them out of your head. The contrast of what you don’t want can be seen with greater clarity, therefore, it is easier to see what is you do want. Write down what it is you want. Focus on the positive. If the people in your life are upsetting you and you feel frustrated, write about what it is that is bothering you. Accept what you cannot change and let it go. I have come to the understanding that difficult people come into our lives to remind us we have work to do on ourselves.
Sometimes it is impossible to deal with others. Angry or depressed people will wear you down. Their unhappiness is not about you. However, if you have a loved one with emotional problems you may find it difficult to just walk away. Seek professional help for yourself and encourage them to get help also.
When we can change the way we look at things/people they often will change.
