Best Homemade Almond Milk

Dairy-Free, Vegan & Paleo Friendly!

Almond milk is perhaps one of the healthiest foods on the planet…

…when you make it at home.

Conventional brands commonly sold in grocery stores are little more than water. Often containing harmful fillers/additives, with artificial preservatives that extend shelf life and very few almonds.

The flavor of homemade almond milk is amazing. It’s healthy, quick and you can have it any time you want.

How to Make Your Own Almond Milk

Super simple to make, this naturally vegan, dairy-free, paleo and absolutely delicious! And an extra bonus, you can adjust the flavor and sweetness to your desired taste.

1c. organic raw almonds, soaked overnight

(I like to soak several quarts at a time. Freeze them in containers for later use.)

4 c. filtered water

Pinch of Himalayan salt

½ t. vanilla extract - never use artificial vanilla, also called vanillin.

Sweeteners Optional:

2 organic dates, pitted

2 T. organic maple syrup

*Use organic ingredients whenever possible. For your health, and that of the planet!

Place almonds and water in a blender or food processor. Blend 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy.

Caution: Blend in two batches if your blender is full.

Strain almonds. I place my nut milk bag over a bowl or other easy to pour container.

Place in a quart jar and store in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Why Soak Your Nuts?

Soaked almonds are easier to digest. And better digestion ensures your body will benefit from the many nutrients that make it a powerful superfood.

Important Note: Beans/Legumes should also be soaked for digestion/nutrient absorption. No need to soak beans if they’re cooked in a pressure cooker.

Easy Soaking Method

Place 1 c. of almonds into a quart glass jar. Fill with filtered water. Allow to sit for 8-12 hours.

Discard soaking water. Fill jar once again. Discard water.

Place nuts on a drying towel and dab off excess moisture.

Place in pint jars and refrigerate. Nuts will keep 3-4 days in fridge.

Freeze extra for later use. They’re awesome in this amazing sorbet recipe
