Detox with Epsom Salts


Soaking in a tub of Epsom salts relieves sore muscles and is an excellent way to de-stress the body. Although relaxation has its benefits, perhaps Epsom salts most important use is in detoxifying and nourishing the body’s system. The salts are absorbed through the skin and into the body’s blood stream. This process pulls harmful toxins including salt- hope you’re using sea salt or pink salt! - from the body, flushing poisons out. The salts then replace necessary minerals of magnesium and sulfate.

For centuries cultures around the world have used Epsom salts to treat a variety of ailments.


Regular use of Epsom salt baths has been shown to improve symptoms of:


  • Toenail fungus

  • Athlete’s foot

  • Muscle soreness

  • Gout

  • Stimulates nerve and muscle function

  • Sprains and bruises

  • Chronic illness may be relieved as the salts pull harmful toxins out of the body while improving mineral and sulfur balance

DO NOT take Epsom salt baths if:

Proper Procedure for Taking a Salt Bath:


  • Fill the tub with pure, warm water. Filter your water if needed to avoid absorbing chemicals, chlorine, heavy metals, dioxin, etc. into your blood stream.

  • Add the Epsom salts into the water.

     Children under 60lbs. ½ cup

     Individuals 60-100 lbs. 1 cup

     Individuals 100-150 lbs. 1 ½ cups

     Individuals 150-200 lbs. 2 cups


  • Soak for 40 minutes in the tub

     The first 20 minutes detoxifies your body. The second 20 minutes           allows for absorption of minerals to occur.



Tips for Maximum Benefits:


  • Don’t use soap

  • Add essential oils such as a few drops of lavender, mint, or frankincense

  • Add herbs such as ginger or cayenne. 1 T. – 1 cup. Take caution with cayenne

  • Relax after your bath and hydrate your body with fresh pure water

  • Dim the lights and listen to relaxing music
