We are honored that Megan Hopkins is sharing her remarkable story of health and healing here at Eden’s Corner. Her story is one of hope, courage and inspiration.
Reni: “Thank you for taking the time to share your inspiring story of your wellness journey here on Eden’s Corner.”
Megan: “Thank you for allowing me to share my story with you and your readers.”
Reni: “Tell us a bit about you and your life before you started your wellness journey.”
Megan: “My name is Megan and I am a 31 year old stay at home mom of three. My children are ages 12, 6 and 1. I am also a fitness support coach. And I have been married to my amazing and supportive husband for almost seven years.
I have struggled with depression and anxiety most of my life. I have also struggled with my weight and eating habits my entire adult life. I fed my depression and anxiety with cookies, chili cheese fries and wine. Not only did this make things incredibly worse, but I was also teaching my children unhealthy habits. When you are in the mix of depression and anxiety, you are blind to it. Everyone on the outside can see the disaster but you.
My husband and I would have a meltdown and I would try to fix it. Everything would be ok for a bit and then the cycle would repeat. I couldn't break the cycle on my own.
It's amazing to me how healing some food can be while others are harmful. Food, exercise and positive living play a huge role in my daily life. I'm not obsessed with it but it helps me to stay well physically and mentally.
The Final Straw
The final straw came five months after my third baby and third c-section. I was overweight, closet eating and depression was seeping in. My son helped me realize I was falling in it deep again. So I reached out to a support coach, asked for help, joined a group and changed the course of my life AND my family's life forever.”
Reni: “You say you reached out to a support group? How did you find that group?”
Megan: “I had been following my coach Megan for a couple of months when she posted about an online fitness group opportunity. It was right around the holidays and it was to inspire people to make healthier choices and come out lighter and feeling better after the holidays were finished.”
Reni: “What was your inspiration that motivated you to continue your wellness journey and ultimately share your journey helping others achieve good health and guide them in their fitness goals?”
Megan: “The driving force that really made me want to make a life long change was my kids. I was brushing my five year old’s teeth before bed one night and he asked me, "Mom, why is your tummy so big and why do you need to eat all the food?" This came as a shock to me, not because of what he said, but the fact that he noticed everything I was eating and how it was changing me. I decided then that I needed to be the leader for my family to live a healthy, active and happy life.
About a month into my journey I could see a drastic change and I could FEEL it. I felt better from the inside out and I felt hope. That's when I decided that I couldn't keep this amazing opportunity to myself and I wanted to pay it forward. I had struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life. I had lost hope, felt severely insecure and just plain sick all the time. My health and wellness journey has changed ALL of that. Now I want to bring hope to others and empower them so they too can learn about healthy eating habits, daily exercise and daily personal development. I have read many different books for personal development to help me turn my bad habits into good ones such as, "Change Any-thing.” There are many excellent books that can guide you to living positively and to the life you deserve. NOBODY should ever feel hopeless and alone.”

Reni: “What kind of commitment does it require? What rewards/benefits have you seen personally and from others?”
Megan: “To start your journey you must be willing to make changes in your daily habits, study yourself a bit to find your triggers, be ok with failing and know that it's not going to happen overnight. You’ve got to believe in yourself. You can dive head first with a program and a 30-day online support group or you can work privately piece by piece with me as a coach until you are ready to take that big step. I am rewarded daily watching others grow; begin to feel better and start sharing their journey with others and ultimately changing more lives.”
Reni: “How has it affected your life today?”
Megan: “It has positively changed not only my life, but my family and some of my friends’ lives as well. And it's not just about losing weight, it's about feeling better in ALL areas of your life and it's starts with loving yourself. One of the best ways to love yourself is by taking care of yourself.”

Reni: “You obviously understand that nutrition is key to good health and healing. What nutritional support do you include in your daily regimen?”
