10 Ways to Naturally Eliminate BO

Get Rid of Body Odor Naturally,

Don’t Cover It Up

We can all agree that body odor is not socially acceptable and can be quite embarrassing.

It happens to everyone at some time. Knowing how to get rid of body odor naturally, is not rocket science.  And it’s certainly healthier than covering it up or blocking lymph nodes, vital to toxin removal, which can protect you from cancer, etc.

Body odor, for a woman, is tantamount to an apocalypse. Below you’ll find common sense tips and remedies that help you detox and nourish your body to prevent unacceptable odor.

You’ll soon discover there’s a better (and safer) way to rid your body of unpleasant smells.

Let’s first take a look at our culture and its answer to dreaded body odors.

Freshness and Pleasant Fragrance

Body odor, the bane of civilized society. Or is it?

The soap and perfume manufacturers (the chemical industry) would have us believe we smell so offensive we need their scented soaps, body washes, perfumes, and body sprays to be socially accepted.

Why would we smell worse than our ancestors who rarely bathed and had appalling hygiene practices?

Body Odor and Good Hygiene

We are so fortunate to live in an era where freshness, pleasant fragrances and good hygiene are expected. When our senses are bombarded with an offensive odor wafting from a nearby person we are shocked. It doesn’t happen very often. More often, we are dazed by the scent of cologne or perfume so putrid our nostrils curl and we’re forced to hold our breath.

Foul body odor is not our natural state. Okay, we may smell strongly at times, but we should never reek. (Unless it’s from food such as garlic coming out of our pores.)

While commercial body sprays and soaps may temporarily “cover up” body odor, they do not address underlying issues. Don’t poison your body to disguise your odor from others!

Body Odor and Causes

Here are some of the causes of body odor and some natural and highly effective approaches to treat this common problem:

1Eat a balanced diet rich in organic fruits and vegetables. Whole foods give your body nourishment, which supply the nutrients you need. Conventionally grown produce is devoid of minerals and can eventually cause malnutrition leading to symptoms of “dis-ease.”

An unhealthy diet,

especially one high in red meat and few veggies, can cause you to excrete malodorous sweat. Your body is working hard to get the toxins out! And is probably too acidic. A healthy body does not stink like one that is toxic with processed foods.

It's crucial that you address the foods you eat, not only to prevent body odor, but as the foundation of optimum, disease-free health.

2. Digestive system is out of whack. I’m not talking gas here. This is nasty sweat gland stink. Our skin sweats to excrete waste. Sweat contains bacterial activity and allowing it to dry on the skin can produce body odor. Probiotics can help with your friendly bacteria. Considering the fact that 80% of the immune system is in the gut, it’s a good idea to supplement. Healthy immune system = Less body odor.

3. Infrequent bathing. That’s a no-brainer, but really folks, it’s healthy to be clean. My dad used to say,

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”

Hey, I was a 11 yr. old Tom Boy, it didn’t mean a thing to me. Again, don’t poison to protect by using harsh soaps, body washes, etc. Your skin has natural, protective oils for a reason. Wash the “important” areas with a mild soap such as castile or other “environmentally safe” soap. If you prefer a "body wash," choose one that is safe for your body.

4. Skip the Antiperspirant

For years we’ve been hearing that aluminum is associated with Alzheimer’s and other health problems. A quick look at a typical antiperspirant label reveals aluminum to be a common ingredient. Being a heavy metal, (dense metal that is usually toxic at low concentrations), it poisons your body and clogs your sweat glands. When you consider the fact that your armpits serve an important function in getting rid of toxins, it’s easy to understand why it’s crucial to keep your pores open and unclogged. Poison to protect? Good thing that when you know better, you can do better.

5. Vinegar Spritz

Vinegar is a natural antiseptic and deodorizer. According to the Vinegar Institute, spritzing with white or apple cider vinegar can kill bacteria and fungi on the skin’s surface. Don’t worry, as it dries the scent evaporates. Dry your body well and for health’s sake use organic vinegar. You don’t need more chemicals poisoning you.

7. Freshen Up with A Natural Cleanser/Sterilizer

Wash your armpits or groin area whenever needed. Wipe with witch hazel or tea tree oil to rid body of bacteria.

Caution: Understand the strength of tea tree essential oil prior to use. Essential oils, often called nature’s medicine (some effectively kill MRSA and other deadly pathogens) are extremely potent and powerful.

Use caution when applying oils to skin. Essential oils are extremely potent. Avoid eyes and mouth. Test a small area of your skin prior to using and wait 10-15 minutes. Continue if no redness appears.

8. Detoxify Your Body

Consider doing a cleanse. There are many on the market, however, the caveat, if you haven't adopted a healthy diet, your body will continue to have an odor as it seeks to flush out the toxins.

Juicing is another effective way to cleanse your body. Try our 3 Day Juice Fast & Cleanse.

9. Whenever Possible, Wear Clothing of Natural Fibers

Most of us know that synthetic fibers do not breathe. If you’ve ever danced for hours in spandex or other fabric that does not breathe you know how offensive that odor can be, especially if you’ve got a lot of body hair and a toxic body. Choose cotton, hemp and other materials that let your skin breathe.

10. Chill Out!

Stress sweat actually stinks worse than exercise and heat related sweat. It’s hypothesized that this odiferous body scent is linked to an adrenaline release that accompanies a fight-or-flight situation and serves as a warning. Your stress sweat may even give off stress signals to others. And if your work environment puts you in close proximity to your co-workers, this could be a bad thing.

Manage Stress. Stress leads to “dis-ease.” Less stress means a healthier body, happier life, and less sweat! Relax. Learn to take it easy. Meditate and feel the peace that is inside you.
